PP Woven Bags are the workhorses of global bulk packaging. However, a bag designed to hold 50kg of flour will fail miserably if you pack 50kg of sharp cement in it. Using the wrong specification leads to burst seams, moisture-damaged goods, and rejected shipments.
To ensure your cargo arrives safely, you must specify the right bag for the right product. Here is the ultimate application guide for procuring PP woven bags.
Cement & Construction Materials
Cement is heavy, abrasive, and requires moisture protection. If water touches cement inside the bag, it hardens, making the product useless.
Required Spec: Laminated (Coated) + Gusseted.
Why Lamination: The inner PP lamination acts as a moisture barrier, preventing humidity from seeping in during storage or transport.
Why Gusseted: Gussets (folds on the sides) allow the bag to expand into a brick shape when filled. This creates flat, stable pallets that don't topple over on construction sites.
Form-Fill-Seal (FFS) Rolls: For high-speed cement plants, FFS rolls (printed rolls fed directly into automated packaging machines) are mandatory.
Flour, Sugar & Food Grains
Food products are sensitive to contamination, moisture, and pests. They require strict hygiene standards that standard industrial bags cannot meet.
Required Spec: Laminated + Food-Grade Virgin PP + Inner PE Liner (Optional).
Why Food-Grade Virgin PP: Recycled plastics can leach toxic chemicals into food. Only 100% virgin polypropylene complies with FDA and EU food contact regulations.
Why PE Liners: For fine powders like flour or sugar, a custom-fitted inner PE liner provides an airtight seal against humidity and prevents the powder from sifting through the microscopic weave of the fabric.
Fertilizers & Agrochemicals
Fertilizers are highly corrosive and hygroscopic (they absorb moisture from the air and turn into hard rocks).
Required Spec: Heavy-Duty Laminated + Anti-Skid Coating.
Why Heavy-Duty Lamination: The lamination must resist the chemical corrosion of Urea, NPK, or DAP. Without it, the chemicals degrade the PP fabric, causing the bag to burst.
Why Anti-Skid Coating: Fertilizer bags are stacked very high in warehouses. An anti-slip coating on the outside of the bag prevents the stacks from collapsing like dominoes.
Global Terminology for Bulk Bag Sourcing
When specifying packaging for different industries, international buyers use targeted terms:
In Germany & Austria: Cement plants source "Zement Säcke" (Cement bags) or "FFS Folienrollen" (FFS film rolls), while food buyers look for "Lebensmittelsichere Gewebesäcke" (Food-safe woven bags).
In France: Flour importers search for "Sacs tissés pour farine" (Woven bags for flour) or "Sacs alimentaires" (Food bags).
In Spain & Mexico: Fertilizer companies demand "Sacos de fertilizantes" or "Bolsas con revestimiento antideslizante" (Bags with anti-slip coating).
In the Middle East (UAE): Construction suppliers require "أكياس الأسمنت المبطنة" (Laminated cement bags) or "شكاير FFS" (FFS sacks).
In Brazil: Agribusiness looks for "Sacos de ráfia para fertilizantes" or "Sacos de cimento".
